Meet Carolyn Gaeta McLean

Carolyn Gaeta McLean is an exceptional communications strategist with years of experience on both sides of the camera as both a TV News Reporter and a Public Relations practitioner. She specializes in media outreach, crisis communications and is an excellent media trainer.

Carolyn’s unique skill set and tenacious personality have led her to hold key roles as Vice President of Corporate Communications for Cedar Fair Entertainment including Cedar Point – the roller coaster capital of the world. She was also part of senior leadership at Six Flags, Inc where she spearheaded the Kentucky park’s response to all manner of crises, including a tragic ride accident that resulted in litigation and eventual settlement. This Louisville, KY resident also took great pride as Director of Communications for historic Churchill Downs Racetrack. That role included interviewing celebrities on the Red Carpet Derby Day and working with rock-n-roll stars performing at a 3-day 5-stage outdoor festival called HullabaLOU where she developed a great admiration for Mumford & Sons.

Prior to holding executive-level Public Relations positions, she was a successful television journalist at WAVE TV (NBC); WRTV (ABC); WRDW (CBS) in Augusta, Georgia, where she covered three Masters golf tournaments, including Tiger Woods’ first major win. While in Georgia, she also worked for CNN, assisting in coverage of the 1996 Olympic Park bombing in Atlanta.

Carolyn speaks fluent “reporter” while at the same time wearing a management hat, expertise that has helped her manage dozens of high-level crises in her career. She is also a sought-after media trainer with the ability to connect with an audience of any size.

When not working, she is a competitive equestrian rider of American Saddlebreds and competes at the highest level.  This Ball State University Telecommunications graduate double majored in Theatre Performance and continues to be an avid supporter of the Fine Arts.
